“Feeding the Nation.” WW2
“Feeding the Nation.” Class 4 enjoyed a full-day living history workshop on Tuesday. We were very impressed by all our children who came to school dressed up as evacuees, solders and land army girls. The workshop was led by a Land Girl, a member of the Women's Land Army, working hard to win the Battle of Supplies. Through our interactive session, she talked to the class about how she was recruited, her training and everyday life on the rural Home Front. She shared first-hand experiences and explored what it was like to work in what had been a man's role. The session was supported by fascinating artefacts and structured to include challenges for children to solve along the way.
