Exploring Protected Characteristics Through Stories – Class 4

Class 4 enjoyed a thoughtful session exploring books linked to our protected characteristics as part of our No Outsiders scheme.
Using the book Mixed by Arree Chung, pupils explored themes of diversity, inclusion, and acceptance. The story provided a valuable opportunity for children to reflect on how everyone is unique and how our differences should be celebrated rather than feared.
Through discussion and reflection, pupils linked the story to the protected characteristics and considered how we can ensure that everyone feels welcome, valued, and included in our school community. The session promoted empathy, understanding, and respect for others, reinforcing our message that there are ‘No Outsiders’ in our school.
