Science Week

We really enjoyed STEM week. The theme for this year's activities is 'Growth' We encouraged the children to think about how the sciences, technology, engineering and maths relate to our everyday lives. The children and teaching staff have had a brilliant time and carried out a variety of investigations.

During the week we talked about seeds and that fruits grow from seeds. Each class planted their own sunflower seeds, talking about what they need in order to grow. We put them in pots with soil and gave them water, light and have kept them at the right temperature. Over the coming weeks we will watch and observe how they grow! The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine.

Class 2 also made their own rain gauges, and they will be measuring the rainfall every day and they will become daily weather reporters for a week.

Children enjoyed investigating how the growth of an object affects the distance they travel. They also explored the effects of different forces on an object as it travels through the air.
