Pupil Chaplains
Welcome to Chaplaincy at Holy Trinity!
Pupil Chaplaincy is an important and valued part of our school community, and we are proud to be welcoming our eighth team of Pupil Chaplains. This year, Holy Trinity has a committed and enthusiastic group of fifteen Chaplains who play a vital role in enhancing the Religious Life of our school. Each year, all Year 5 pupils are invited to apply in writing for the role. Applicants then take part in an interview with Father Gerard Kelly, Mrs. Lyle (Head Teacher), and Mrs. Duckett (Chaplaincy Lead). Once selected, our new Pupil Chaplains are commissioned during a special Mass, after which they begin their ministry alongside the experienced Year 6 Chaplains.
Our Pupil Chaplains work tirelessly to promote our Catholic faith within the school, while also serving as an important link between our school and parish community. The role is highly respected, and the children carry out a wide range of responsibilities, including welcoming new pupils and staff, helping to lead Masses and liturgical celebrations, and supporting charitable and fundraising initiatives. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and prayerful leadership make a significant contribution to the spiritual life of our school, our parishes, and the wider community. They truly work—and pray—very hard!
Please read below to find out about all the various activities that happen at Holy Trinity which enrich our interactions and relationships with God and with each other. You will find lots of information about what we do, so please take a look!
Prayers of Remembrance
During our Pupil Chaplain meeting, the children shared a strong desire to do something special for our Remembrance Day prayer service in the prayer garden. They came up with a thoughtful and creative idea: to make red crosses for each child to place in the ground as a personal act of reflection and remembrance for the soldiers who gave their lives so that we may live in peace.
The Month of the Holy Rosary
October is a very special month in our school as we honour Our Lady during the Month of the Holy Rosary. During this time, we gathered in prayer to say a decade of the Rosary, reflecting on peace and kindness in our world. The Pupil Chaplains were delighted to organise our Wednesday Lunchtime Rosary Club once again, welcoming everyone to come together in prayer. It was wonderful to see the older children helping the younger ones to use their rosary beads and pray with such reverence and faith.
Season of Creation (September 2025)
The Season of Creation is a time to come together to renew our relationship with our Creator through celebration, conversation and commitment together. At this time, the Pupil Chaplains sought to unite our school in prayerful activities. They organised and led a 'Walk of Creation' around the school grounds and made a beautiful prayer station for a day of special class worship.
Thank you for the Harvest
Our school community came together to celebrate the spirit of giving through our Harvest collection. The Pupil Chaplains played a wonderful role in helping to gather all the generous food donations kindly given by our families. With great care and teamwork, they sorted the items and created beautiful Harvest parcels, ready to be delivered to our local parishioners. It was a lovely reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference to others, especially during this special time of year.

Romero Day
Our Pupil Chaplains had a wonderful time at Blessed Trinity to celebrate Romero Day. They worked with chaplains from other schools in the trust and one of the themes was 'seeing things through God's eyes'. They enjoyed all the different activities.

We gained the Live Simply Award from Cafod July 2023
The live simply award is an opportunity for Catholic communities - parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies - to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation in Laudato Si' to “work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”.

The Crowning of Our Lady - May 2022.
Our Chaplains read beautifully at the Mass and were respectful and prayerful. All the children brought flowers to the altar and some of these were taken to a local residential home with whom we have forged good links.
Pupil Chaplains visited Victoria House, a home for the elderly within our community.

Lots of children attended our Rosary Club at lunchtime which was run by our Pupil Chaplians. The sun was certainly shining on our school.
