All our teaching and learning takes Christ as our model. Our mission statement and catholic ethos is woven through every subject and we provide an holistic education for our children.

Curriculum:

The Religious Education of our pupils is the core of the Core Curriculum; the practice and teaching of the Catholic Faith is central. Our Faith is not just something added on to everything else we do as a school, but runs through all our learning.  10% RE curriculum time is allocated across all key stages. The staffing and resourcing devoted to RE is of the highest standard, reflecting its significance and importance in our school.

In preparation for the implementation of the new RE Directory in September 2026, pupils will follow the new ‘Lighting the Path‘ scheme for Religious Education 

Wherever possible, teachers are encouraged to use the ideas laid out in the schemes in a more creative and imaginative way. Teachers are also expected to use the RE curriculum as a vehicle to apply skills in extended writing.

 In addition to the published schemes, our curriculum also reflects the liturgical year, with activities designed to develop their knowledge and understanding of: 

• Advent
• Christmas
• Lent
• Easter
• Pentecost
• Various feast days and holy days

Our Religious Education curriculum is run alongside our Prayer and Liturgy provision. 

Teachers will use the tasks from the new materials to assess pupils’ knowledge and understanding.

2025-26

Year 2 took part in a collective worship looking at connection. We talked about how we are all connected.

Class 1- Prophecy & Promise

Class 1 have created nativity scenes and spoken about the the birth of baby Jesus. 

Class 1- The Creation of the World 

Class 1 have been learning about God's creation of the world and they went on a nature walk to see all of the wonderful things created. They used their senses to explore our natural world and then described something that made them say 'wow'!

2024-25

Pre-School have been learning about other cultures and religions. They learnt about and celebrated Chinese New Year by making decorations and eating Chinese food.

All the children in Class 4 walked down to Brierfield Cenotaph to pay their respects to all the fallen soldiers. Some of us spotted family names on the Cenotaph. We laid a wreath on behalf of the whole school.

 

      

The Infants retold the story of Christmas to all our school community . They put on a fantastic performance. 

     

Class 4 have been learning about the difference between contracts and covenants. After some great discussions about the reasons why God sent the flood, they read about the convenant between God and Noah.
